Another year to complete resolutions

To embrace rejuvenation and to find those

Life surprises still waiting for us to discover

Thus far, winter has been a mix of bad weather and political pollution

State primaries, shouted debates, a wary public, dropped out candidates

All engaged more than ever in the ongoing theatrics of a democratic process

And soon, we’ll be savoring the rebirth of a colorful spring

Nature’s innocent ones leaving nests, dens and other habitats

Seeking adventures, finding challenges, just like all the rest of us

And even later, we’ll fall into the hues of autumn

Voters’ demands, combative discussion, national elections, worn-out promises

A winner’s speech, another’s defeat, marching bands, and more long ceremonies

And when it’s all over, we’ll expect our two-party system to move like clockwork

We pledged our support; we cast our vote; so we’ll pray we made a right choice

Time for all sworn-in electives to do one’s agreed upon part and become decisive

Be a defender of our great nation, and be sure to submit your important vote!
